The Grace Hopper Celebration is the world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists, where people from around the world learn, network, and celebrate their achievements.
AnitaB.org, the organizers of the Grace Hopper Celebration, and Opus Agency have shared growth throughout a multi-year relationship.
Through the 2010s, our teams designed and produced in-person experiences throughout two million square feet of meeting space across multiple venues. These experiences included 450+ breakout sessions and a career fair where attendees could interview for jobs in technical fields on the spot.
In 2020 and 2021, we reimagined the event as a virtual experience on a global scale, allowing us to extend the reach and the mission further. In both years, we successfully engaged and connected 35,000 women from screens in 119 countries. The experience included a virtual job fair and a virtual dance party.
In 2022, the event returned in a hybrid format, with 30,000 attendees. The experience included 200+ in-person breakout sessions and 68 presentations on-demand. With the help of over 400 sponsors, the Expo Hall was bustling with eager technologists and recruiters who interviewed and connected with the next wave of diverse talent.
Breonna’s Garden, an AR/VR interactive art installation designed by digital artist Lady PheOnix and in collaboration with Breonna Taylor’s sister, Ju’Niyah Palmer, was installed at the 2022 event. Attendees immersed themselves in an ethereal space, honoring Taylor’s life. A beautiful and emotional example of women using technology to do good.
The event concluded with a concert from Jessie J, who ironically urged the audience of technologists to put their phones down, connect, and live in the moment.
The Grace Hopper Celebration is returning in person and online in 2023. Stay tuned for the official announcement.
